Henwood Construction has grown from a small ‘one man band’ to one of the largest building companies in the Far North. We currently employ a team of 40 staff including a quantity surveyor, three office staff, small contracts manager, experienced foreman, carpenters, apprentice carpenters, small machinery operator, hammer hands, and labourers. Henwood’s pre-construction services are designed to provide the necessary pre-project planning, and cost /schedule development prior to the start of a construction project. When pre-construction services are utilized effectively, they can result in a reduction of changes during the construction phase of a project, as well as keeping a project on schedule and budget.

Henwoods has been providing design build services for nearly 20 years. Henwoods has constructed many buildings for owners using the design build method of delivery. There are several advantages of design build for the owner, including a single point of accountability for the design and construction and a faster delivery of construction.

General contracting services are used in the traditional delivery method of design/bid/build. General contracting has been the most popular form of delivering construction services to the marketplace over the years. Henwood Construction has a wealth of experience as the general contractor for many projects over the last 20 years. The depth of experience in Henwoods field and office personnel is regarded as one of the best in the industry.

The complexities of today’s construction systems and methods and the difficulty in managing a large number of highly skilled subcontractors, has led to the increasing popularity of the construction management delivery method. This method allows the owner and architect-engineer to have available to them the services of a general contractor during planning and design as well as the construction phase. Henwood Construction, together with the owner and architect-engineer, work as a team throughout the entire project, from concept to closeout.

Henwood Construction employs the latest services, technology and developments in the industry. We have an extensive range of tools available where required for our works. These include a three scissor lift, 2 tonne digger (x2), telehandler with a 3.3 tonne lift and a 13 metre reach, plate compactor, laser level, portable concrete mixer, safety harnesses, commercial water blaster, post hole borer, concrete cutter, full & ½ scaffolding, and all small tools required.

Our highest priority is satisfied customers. Henwood Construction Ltd operates an in house quality control system. All site foremen are experienced qualified carpenters who adhere to the New Zealand Building Code. Work is consistently checked on-site to ensure current standards are met and all current literature is available in the company office. Weekly on-site meetings are held to discuss any quality issues and systems worked through to remedy these issues.

Quality Assurance Systems

We run an in-house quality assurance system (non-audited however works to a ISO 9001 Level) which has been developed over the years through differing projects.. At every trade interface point a Quality Assurance Inspection is undertaken, between the completing trade and the following trade. This inspection is attended by a Henwood Construction representative, being generally the site foreman. These inspections are then forwarded to the office and are audited by our offsite management team. Quality assurance inspections are also carried out at building inspection times.
